Air Brush Instructions
*APPOINTMENTS ARE REQUIRED FOR SPRAY TAN SESSIONS.
PLEASE CALL AHEAD!*
Air brushing is great for people who, for whatever reason, prefer not to tan with a tanning bed or may not be able to tan in a bed. It is great for special ocassions such as weddings, proms and other events as well.
How long does the airbrush tan last?
We offer California Tan Extending products to help keep that air brushed glow even longer!
Preparation For Your Sunless Tanning Appointment
1. Exfoliating with a salt scrub or other appropriate product is required prior to your tanning session.
Removing loose, dead dry skin cells will improve and extend the tanning results. Failure to remove these skin cells will prevent application of the sunless solution. Sunless Rayz has a variety of these products available.
2. Before your airbrush tanning sessions, your skin should be clean and dry with no soap residue remaining.
This step is very important and will interfere with your tanning if not thoroughly done.
3. DO NOT apply any lotions, moisturizers, deodorant or perfume to your skin prior to tanning. It is recommended that you shave the day before you tan. Do not wear any make-up (or remove it) prior to the spray tan session.
4. Remove all jewelry before being sprayed.
5. You may wear a 1 or 2 piece bathing suit if you wish.
We do require that you wear underwear; a thong is permissible for ladies and boxer shorts for men.
6. Do not wear any tight-fitting clothing such as jeans. Do not wear leather shoes because the leather
will pull the tan away from your skin. If your car has leather seats, bring a towel to sit on for your drive home. Loose-fitting clothing is highly recommended to be worn after you have been airbrushed;
this will assist in your skin not rubbing on your clothing.
7. You should not bathe or participate in activies that cause sweating for at least 8 hours following the application.
8. Prior to the session, you will need to apply a barrier cream. Sunless Rayz will supply this.
DO NOT USE YOUR OWN BARRIER CREAM. Instructions to apply this cream will be given to
you at the time of your tanning sessions.
Tan Extender
This moisturizing lotion contains no “instant” color, but has the same active tanning agent that delivers a
gorgeous, longer-lasting tan. The Tan Extender is recommended for those who want to easily extend their
dark tan for days or weeks longer. The Tan Extender is a great choice for the face and body and is rapidly
becoming one of our most popular products.
Instructions Following Your Airbrush Tanning Appointment Until Complely Dry
1. Do not bath or sweat for 8 hours following the application.
2. Do not put on any perfume or lotion that may contain alcohol.
3. If you wear glasses/sunglasses, put them on carefully taking care not to swipe the side of your face.
4. Do not scratch or pat your face/body to rid yourself of an itch (this may streak or rub tan off).
5. Do not rub your hands on your body or cross your legs.
6. Do not sit on leather or vinyl if you are bare-legged.
7. Do not perform any physical labor, go to the gym or workout prior to your initial shower, as this
will cause streaking.
8. Do not go out in the rain without a large umbrella directly after your application, as this too will
cause streaking.
9. Do not have any body contact until after you have showered.
The Following Will Lighten/Make Your Airbrush Tan Blotchy
1. Dove shower gel or soap will fade the tan.
2. Curel Lotion has destroyed some tans.
3. Hair inhibiting lotions such as Jergens tend to make the tan yellow.
4. Anti-aging products that “renew”, “refresh”, or “exfoliate” skin.
5. AHA’s (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) glycolic, lactic, malic, citric and tartatic acids
6. BHA’s (Beta Hydroxy Acids – Salicylic Acid)
7. Retin-A type products (Retin-A, Renovate, Tazorac, Trentinoin)
8. Toners containing witch hazel or alcohol
9. Anti-acne products that exfoliate the skin – accutane or salicylic acid
10. Makeup remover, cleaning products or oils used to clean away eye makeup
11. Bar soaps, especially deodorant varieties of anti-bacterial
12. Use of a loofa or a scrub mitt, etc., for daily washing – use a soft washcloth
13. Band-aids or adhesive tape will pull the tan off
14. Facial masks or exfoliating scrubs
15. Pore type adhesive facial strips
16. Wax or hair removal
17. Depilatory hair removal products - Neet, Nair, etc.
18. Shaving exfoliates the skin; therefore fading the tan. For best results, use a new/clean
razor with a lubricating product such as hair conditioner. Wash off the conditioner when
done. A dull razor will scrape off the tan.
19. Pat dry after a shower…do not rub yourself dry.
20. Body hair bleaching products
21. People with oily skin tend to develop a lighter tan than people with dry skin. The oils can
coat the skin and dry skin absorbs more product faster.
22. Bug spray…when sprayed directly onto the skin can remove or fade the tan. We recommend
you spray our clothing or a “cloud” of spray that you can walk through rather than applying
directly onto the skin.
